As Assistant Director for Corporate Parenting, you’ll join us at a time of exciting and positive change. We’ve made significant progress in improving our services for children and young people, and we’re now seeking a leader who can bring pace, focus, and compassion to continue that journey.

You’ll provide strategic leadership across:

• Fostering and Adoption
• Family Time and Children in Care
• Children’s Homes and Leaving Care
• Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children

You’ll drive inspection readiness, champion reunification, and embed a culture of excellence and accountability across all areas of Corporate Parenting.

You’ll be a qualified social worker with significant experience in corporate parenting and service improvement.

Whilst our council is a flexible employer, given the role, you will need to be a visible leader in the organisation and across the county, with in-person attendance in the office for three days each week.

We positively encourage the use of technology to communicate, but on occasions, there may be a requirement for you to travel to locations away from your contractual base, using reasonable and suitable means available to you.

Our Children and Young People (CYP) directorate brings together the county council’s services for education and learning, early years and childcare, services for vulnerable children and young people including early intervention and prevention, and integrated youth support services.
